Welcome to my page! I am a freelance writer based in Austin, TX, with experience in education, sports, fitness, politics and public relations. I started freelancing in 2007, fell in love with it and I haven't stopped since.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from The University of Texas at Austin and a Masters degree in Educational Administration. In my senior year at UT, I took a PR internship with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation where I wrote letters to donors and organized fundraising events. Following graduation, I went on to work in the Texas State Legislature as a media aide and legislative assistant for State Representative Eddie Rodriguez. As an aide, I wrote press releases, connected with the media, scheduled interviews, and listened to and effectively communicated constituent concerns to both the media and Representative Rodriguez.
From there I changed direction and began working in Education. I have taught in secondary schools for over 8 years. I have written several research articles on educational topics, including: differentiation, teacher retention, low performing schools and educational leadership.
Currently as a freelance writer, I consult with and write for several non-profit organizations, educational agencies and small businessess. I help build content on their websites, write press releases, grant proposals, articles, and informational brochures and events.
Why is this important for you????
This is important for you, because I'm great at writing from multiple perspectives and in a way that connects different groups of people. If you need to get a message to an audience (clients, customers, donors, volunteers, the community, etc.) I will get the message to them in a way that inspires them take action.
